Complex Full-bodied with Sweet Umami After-taste
An exceptional quality organic Gyokuro - smooth, intense sweetness, complex, with a harmonious umami character and long-after taste

This is a versatile green tea that can be made short and intense as a Gyokuro but it can also be brewed as a regular Sencha. The taste is intensely sweet and slightly herbal, with notes of freshly steamed vegetables and a long citrus aftertaste. Even when made using Sencha parameters it is still Umami-rich with a thick, slightly viscous-oily texture that coats the mouth.

We would recommend brewing this either as a Sencha using 65-70°C hot water and 4g of leaf per 150ml of water, for 60 seconds, or, as a Gyokuro using 50°C hot water and 6g of tea for just 30ml of water for 2 minutes.

About the Tea Garden

Chamejin is a premium shaded Gyokuro green tea that is grown without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides by two farmer brothers in Shibushi, Kagoshima on the southern end of Kyushu island in Japan. The tea is shaded for twenty days prior to harvesting, which increases the production of L-Theanine amino acids in the plant. The volcanic soil of the region is particularly fertile, creating ideal conditions for nutrient-rich tea with a complex range of aromas.
