Deep umami flavour, full-bodied, spicy, slightly sweet
An exceptional quality organic Gyokuro - smooth, intense sweetness, complex, with a harmonious Umami character and long-after taste

Discover the exceptional taste and aroma of this premium Gyokuro, characterized by deep green leaves and fresh Umami flavour. Brew it as a Sencha or Gyokuro for a perfect cup of tea.

This Gyokuro tea is made from the Saemidori cultivar. Its deep green leaves are a testament to its high quality. When brewed, it reveals an enticing, spicy-sweet scent that characterizes fully shaded Gyokuro teas.

The tea has a fine sweetness that spreads throughout the mouth with the first sip, accompanied by fine vegetal and nutty notes. It has no bitter notes, making it a beautiful, light infusion. The second infusion is also worthwhile, as it is very balanced in taste, round, and gentle.

To brew as a Sencha, use 4g of leaf per 150ml of 65-70°C water for 60 seconds. To brew as a Gyokuro, use 6g of tea for just 30-50ml of 50°C water for 2 minutes.

About the Tea Garden

Kiwami is a premium shaded Gyokuro green tea that is grown without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides by two farmer brothers in Shibushi, Kagoshima on the southern end of Kyushu island in Japan. The tea is shaded for twenty days prior to harvesting, which increases the production of L-Theanine amino acids in the plant. The volcanic soil of the region is particularly fertile, creating ideal conditions for nutrient-rich tea with a complex range of aromas.
