Elevate Your Tea Ritual Experience
Houhin - 宝瓶 , translating to "treasure jar" or "magical jar," is a traditional teapot meticulously crafted to enhance the umami flavor, rich mouthfeel, and exquisite jade color of high-grade teas such as Gyokuro and premium Kabuse Sencha.

This meticulously crafted porcelain teapot and teacup set epitomizes elegance and precision, offering an effortless and precise tea-serving experience. Ideal for tea enthusiasts, this exquisite collection was developed in collaboration with Kikunozonoen, a renowned tea merchant from Shirakawa in Gifu Prefecture, a prominent Japanese tea production area.

The Chahaku Houhin Teapot, smaller than a kyusu and designed without a handle, is ideal for teas requiring lower water temperatures for infusion. Its spout features an engraved ridges filter that strain most tea leaves while allowing some of the finer Gyokuro leaves to flow into the cup, enriching the tea's luscious body and flavor. The Yunomi teacups, with their wide, open lip to enhance the aroma and translucent white interior to accentuate the tea's color, offer a multi-sensory experience, allowing you to feel the warmth of the tea through their thin porcelain body.

The design seamlessly marries traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics.

About Ceramic Studio MIYAMA

In the mid-nineteenth century, in Ori Inatsu-cho, Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, a ceramic ware known as "Risen-yaki" was created. This marked the first attempt in Japan to paint ceramics using copper plates. In 1977, Miyama was founded in this historic place, inheriting the rich artistic tradition and spirit of the area. Their tableware is crafted using the "casting" technique, which forms porcelain using plaster molds, involving the skilled craftsmanship of many artisans.

For their white porcelain, achieving its original whiteness is crucial to enhancing its quality. Miyama's white porcelain is produced by firing clay rich in glass components at 1340 degrees Celsius. This high-temperature firing harmonizes the clay and glaze, resulting in a vitrified, translucent luster on the surface. This process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also makes the material easy to clean and resistant to stains. This Houhin teapot and Yunomi teacups embody the beauty of utility, combining functionality with elegance.
