HARAJIMA TEA GARDEN
Premium Japanese Teas by the Harajima Family
This multi-awarded tea garden is nestled deep within the picturesque mountains of Yabe Village, Fukuoka, Japan. Operated by husband and wife farmers, Masashi Harajima (Producer/Japanese Tea Instructor) and Eri Harajima (Producer/Tea Education Instructor), this remarkable tea garden has a rich legacy of quality tea production with a history dating back three generations. It specializes in crafting premium mountain-grown Sencha and Gyokuro teas, renowned for their unparalleled quality and flavour.
Nature's Influence on Exceptional Teas
One of the defining features of the Harajima family teas is the unique terroir of their mountainous village. Here, the tea leaves experience later budding compared to those in flatlands. This slower growth process results in teas with richer flavours and more intricate profiles. Additionally, the farm's remote location minimizes pest interference, allowing the tea plants to thrive organically, without the need for chemicals.
Sustainable Farming Practices
The Harajima family's commitment to environmentally friendly tea production is a cornerstone of their farming approach. They employ an exclusive method using hand-picked fermented organic fertilizers, known as bokashi fertilizers and adapt their practices according to seasonal weather conditions. Their meticulous attention to detail and deep knowledge of tea cultivation ensures the highest quality standards in every tea leaf.
Masashi-san's dedication to his craft has earned him Japan's prestigious Minister's Award three times, solidifying their reputation as premier tea producers. Today, they are passing down their knowledge and expertise to their son, who actively participates in the farming and harvesting, ensuring that the legacy of their tea farm continues.
The Harajima's exquisite teas are sought after not only in Japan but also around the world. Known for their exceptional taste, captivating aroma, and unwavering quality, these teas have captured the hearts of tea connoisseurs globally. Amidst the crisp mountain air and the melodious songs of birds, the tea leaves at their tea farm flourish, resulting in premium teas cherished by tea enthusiasts worldwide.
